The Deep Ellum Arts Festival was loads of fun and a great success! A big thank you to those who stuck around during our set, and especially to those who purchased our CD.

We noticed a few people taking some photos of us that day, and if you were one of them, please contact us. We'd love to have copies of the photos, but have no idea who you are, or how to get a hold of you. We noticed at least 3 people taking lots of photos. Please use the contact page on our website to let us know who you are!

Next on the Mosaic Minds agenda is the semi-annual trip to Houston for the Dragonboat Festival. Our next Dallas date will be at White Rock Lake. Be sure to sign up on our mailing list for updated details on upcoming shows!

Well, Mosaic Minds was rained out for Sunday's gig at the White Rock Lake Rock'n Relay races on March 19th. We were all looking forward to it, but Mother Nature had other plans. We heard that part of the race was cancelled due to all the flooding that took place all over the Metroplex. Hope everyone stayed dry and that no one was stuck in any flood waters!

Our next gig will be an acoustic gig at Cretia's on McKinney. On Saturday, March 25th, Julie and Ruben will be performing acoustically with Andy Pruyn joining us on percussion. The show starts around 9ish, and we'll be playing until 1:30am! Come out, enjoy some great food, a great atmosphere and great music. The Mosaic Minds CD, Simple Pleasures, will be available for purchase.

3/1/06 09:31 am - [info]mosaicjulz

The Mosaic Minds CD is finally here!!

We are very excited about it! We're all incredibly pleased with the finished product, both visually and audibly. We can't wait for you to hear it!

We are still working on a CD release party, where you will be able to buy our CD for a discounted price! However, if you are impatient and want to get your hands on the CD now, please send $10 to Julie (at)Mosaicminds.com, provide a shipping address, and your CD will be mailed to you! If you would like any of the band members to sign the CD, please include that in the notes with your payment, and we will be happy to do so!

Additionally, the Mosaic Minds website has been totally revamped! Tremendous thanks go to Kris Swenson of StrangeFamiliar.com and April Samuels of 100ProofEntertainment.com who made it all possible!

Our next gig will be at the White Rock Lake Rock n' Relay. For more information, please post a comment here, email us, or visit the website.

Hope to see you there!

2/21/06 07:25 am - [info]mosaicjulz - CD update

The Mosaic Minds CD have left New York and are on their way to Dallas! Expected delivery date: Friday, February 24th.

2/3/06 02:51 pm - [info]mosaicjulz - CD Update

Kris Swenson has been my point person for our CD duplicator. Just in from her:

"The artwork is printed & done and the manufacturing has started.  They anticipate a completion/shipping date of mid to late next week."

The waiting is agony, but it's almost over!

2/1/06 04:21 pm - [info]mosaicjulz

Mosaic Minds has been confirmed to play at White Rock Lake for their Rock n' Relay Races on Sunday, March 19th. It will be an outdoor gig, and we will be one of 38 bands playing along the track.

Still searching for a venue for the CD release party. We have confirmed Transit and Room Four as two other bands joining us for the party.

More details to come!

1/23/06 12:18 pm - [info]mosaicjulz - Update on the CD

So, last week, we sent the CD masters and artwork to the duplicator only to have them come back with needing to charge us more for a full-color job instead of half B&W, etc., etc. After many emails back and forth between me, Kris and the duplicator, we finally decided to make the entire CD tray and insert full color. We also upped our order from 500 fully packaged/500 promo to a full 1000 fully-packaged...er, package.

There were many tweaks that had to be made to the CD in order to make the inside panels B&W. (Some of this CD talk might be foreign to some of you, but I know most of you will understand what I mean) While in the process of tweaking, we discovered many more edits that needed to be made to the credits. Luckily, we got that all taken care of, and as of 10am this morning, the artwork has been sent to Sony for printing. We'll get our proofs back shortly.

I can't believe that I could have the MM CD in my hands within the next couple of weeks!

That said, we are trying to think of a cool place to have our CD release party, and also trying to get the website redesigned.

In the meantime, I (Julie) recently auditioned for a cover band. They seem to like me, and while nothing is set in stone, I do have a rehearsal tonight. Will keep you posted.

Jeff is continuing to play with the Kathy Corbin Band on Saturday nights and is also in the process of recording Doug Conlon and Doug Polhamus on their individual projects respectively.

More updates on Mosaic Minds as soon as we have them!

1/12/06 03:13 pm - [info]mosaicjulz - CD almost done...

The CD has been shipped to the duplicator! We are told it would be around 12 business days for turnaround (wow), but our friends have gotten their CDs back in less than a week from them before. I anticipate that they will receive the package by Saturday or Tuesday, so we may have the CD back before February even begins! YAY!

We are in the process of looking for a reasonably priced website designer to revamp the entire Mosaic Minds page before the CD release begins.

Start saving your dollar bills!
Keep checking back for updates.

1/4/06 03:40 pm - [info]mosaicjulz - Update

Hi, everyone! Happy New Year! Julie here...

As an easier way for me to keep news and information regarding the band up-to-date, I thought that I would try this process. I hope it works.

So what's new with Mosaic Minds?

I recently bought a new digital piano and plan to use it to create more music! Much easier said than done when you are battling writer's block and lack of motivation. In addition to Mosaic Minds stuff, I am also trying to work on some Vietnamese music in order to perhaps pursue that direction a little. More to come...

Ruben just bought a virtual guitar studio for his PC. It has a very high quality recording capability. Since my new toy is also PC friendly, it looks like Ruben and I may be able to start composing music and trade our ideas via the internet. What a wild concept! Of course, this doesn't negate the need for getting together in person, of course.

Jeff still subs for various bands and continues working on recording projects for Doug Polhamus (who provided strings on the new EP) and others. After months and months of hard labor over the recording of the new Mosaic Minds EP, he has finally finished mixing and mastering all the parts on the new album. On Sunday, January 8th, he will be sitting in on bass for Gary Hankins CD release in Wichita Falls.

The tracks were then sent off to Dana Detrick-Clark of Serious Vanity Music, who registered the CD with her special, nifty software so that when you play our CD in certain players, the album info will pop up for your viewing pleasure! She also provided us with cue sheets for the duplicator, and other little things that we are so excited about.

Kris Swenson provided us with the album artwork. I had an initial idea for what I wanted the cover and insert to look like. For weeks, she patiently listened to my ideas and brought them to life, merging them with many of her own creative designs. The end result is something we are all very proud of and can't wait to unveil.

In October, one of the tracks from new EP premiered on nette radio. The response was very positive, and we are very excited! The final step now is to get all the pieces together and send them off to the duplicator. We hope to have the CDs back by the end of the month and ready to release VERY soon! Stay tuned!
